ICAR-CIAE Process technology for Dietary Fibre extraction

Background:
By-product valorization for effective waste management is currently one of the relevant topics in sustainable research. This area is still in its infancy due to a need for more research on commercial-scale production methods for dietary fibre extraction. Large-scale production of dietary fibre is possible only with the development of a scalable process technology. Hence, we targeted establishing a pilot plant dietary fibre extraction unit with a suitable process protocol for agricultural by-products such as soybean and chickpea hulls.:
Technology Details:
A process protocol for the pilot plant-level extraction of dietary fibre from soybean and chickpea hulls has been developed. The developed technology could benefit the industrial valorisation of by-products of soybean and chickpea, which are currently fetching low prices into a high-value product dietary fibre. These extracted dietary fibres can be incorporated into various snacks and bakery products to enrich their fibre content for potential health benefits.
